Creating a Mental Health Strategy for Your Workplace

With new regulations focusing on psychological safety, what are you doing to establish a meaningful workplace mental health strategy?

Overview

Mental health and wellbeing has never been higher on the agenda for most employers. While the focus has rightly been on identifying and supporting the one in five working Australian’s who will experience a mental health challenge, 2022 has seen increasing expectations and focus upon workplace psychological safety. Beyond the existing obligations to create safe and supportive working environments that are without risk to mental health and wellbeing,

Safety Regulators across the board have released guidance materials and directives regarding the approach workplaces must take to meeting this responsibility. Perhaps of most note, are the impending psychological risk regulations due to be released by WorkSafe Victoria which will legislate reporting and risk management actions aligned to psychological safety, with penalties for businesses who fail to meet the new standards. A pilot initiatives which is likely to be adopted in some capacity by all jurisdictions moving forward.

Join us as we step through this changing and landscape and take a practical approach to what this means for all businesses. Consider effective strategies and interventions for key psychological risks that can be implemented with minimal disruption to operations but maximum impact to the health and wellbeing of your workforce. Understand requirements for reporting and more importantly consider how meaningful data can be identified within your workplace. Ultimately, begin to build or enhance, your mental health and psychological safety strategy to help to future proof your workplace and create a safe, productive and most importantly thriving work environment and culture.
