Taking a best practice approach to hybrid and flexible work : A joint HR, safety and wellbeing strategy

Overview

Further, the Covid-19 pandemic saw a significant portion of workplaces pivot to flexible and hybrid arrangements that have become the new normal of work. This change has created both challenges and opportunities, for workplaces and as flexibility becomes the new expectation of workers, there is a need for workplaces to review what was initially a fairly reactive approach to hybrid work and establish a more consistent, operationally meaningful and holistic approach. This approach is supported by the Global Commission on the Future of Work who are calling for more investment to support flexible work and programs to ensure workers and workplaces are able to achieve the always difficult equation of work-life balance.

Join us as we explore the fantastic opportunities and substantial new risks that hybrid work poses to employers. Consider new approaches to supporting workers and addressing the now grey space between work and home life, demands and needs. Understand practical strategies for creating higher levels of engagement, improving health and wellbeing, attracting and retaining talent and mitigating people risk.

Key Learning Outcomes

Following the course, participants will have the skills and strategies to:

  • Understand what the definition of “work” looks like post-pandemic and understand how expectations and obligations have changed.
  • Understand the benefits of flexible work and supporting employees to achieve work-life balance.
  • Implement workforce strategies to assist employees to achieve work-life wellbeing.
  • Implement steps to start the conversation with an employee regarding work-life wellbeing or flexible work.
  • Understand employers’ rights and obligations in respect to all areas of workplace flexibility.
  • Ensure health and safety obligations are met especially regarding hybrid work.
  • Understand the actions that workplaces can take to manage workers throughout flexible working arrangements.
  • Manage legal risks, including breaches of National Employment Standards, discrimination, adverse action and constructive dismissal.
  • Discuss best practice strategies and the characteristics of effective hybrid work.
  • Identify a range of resource pathways to support flexible work and work-life wellbeing.

Employers, People Managers and Human Resources professionals and those invested in approaching work-life wellbeing in a new way.

  • Flexible working arrangements template.
  • Work-life wellbeing resources to be shared with the workplace.
