Gallagher Workplace Risk understands that safety can be at times overwhelming and it can be challenging to create a plan of where to start.

Did you know that...

October each year marks National Safe Work Month and workers and employers across Australia are asked to renew their commitment to safety and health. This year’s theme for National Safe Work Month is Think safe. Work safe. Be safe. Safe Work Australia provides various resources and initiatives to help promote national safe work month this October. We particularly like the ‘have a safety chat over a cuppa’ initiative.

The first step to creating a health and safe workplace is to plan and think about the risks and improvement opportunities within your workplace. Gallagher Workplace Risk (WPR) understands that safety can be at times overwhelming and it can be challenging to create a plan of where to start. With this in mind, the Gallagher WPR Team created a health check tool, designed to help organisations gain a snapshot into their safety management, workers compensation and training status.

The objective of the Gallagher WPR Health Check Tool is to assist your business in identifying what is currently in play at your organisation to manage workplace risk whilst identifying potential opportunities where the program may be enhanced. The Gallagher WPR Health Check has been developed by our team of Safety, Workers Compensation and Education specialists, comprising of targeted questions to help you in gaining insight into your progress and help kick-start your journey to thinking safe this Safe Work Month.

The Health Check focuses on three key elements that drive workers compensation costs and performance:

  1. Workers Compensation Program Management,
  2. Workers Compensation Claims Management, and
  3. Injury Management.

At the same time, the Health Check will also consider preventative risk control measures in relation to Safety Risk Management and Education & Training.

This assessment is based on recognised best practice approaches and organisational characteristics that are known to deliver successful workplace risk injury outcomes including:

  • Minimising workplace injury in the first instance,
  • Consistently coordinate a safe, durable and timely return to work post workplace injury, and
  • Explore all opportunities to minimise workers compensation premium spend.

The key outcome of the assessment is to provide a suite of recommendations or targeted strategies to assist your business with the management of your Work Health Safety and Workers Compensation program which will directly impact program performance and premium spend.
